Work Schedule: 18 hours per week Monday-Friday, up to 18 hours per week (occasional afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays required). Fixed times in Saugus Monday to Thursday 1:00pm-4:00pm

Non-Benefited, Grant funded position, MCCC unit position

SALARY: $32.00 per hour

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Early College Career Pathways Coordinator will work specifically with students in the Early College program with Saugus Public Schools. The role is committed to facilitating access to higher education and successful accomplishment of student goals. Creates and promotes resources that support student achievement in personal barriers. Focuses on empowering first-generation, low-income students and anchors the student as a vital member of the College community. Responsible for serving all students participating in North Shore Community College Early College Programs and supporting other current and prospective North Shore Community College students transitioning from high school into career pathways educational programs. Reports to the Assistant Director of Early College Partnerships with assistance from the Executive Director of K12 Partnerships.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support the work of the Early College Program- including outreach, advisement, planning, and carrying out student-and-family engagement events and college awareness activities, information sessions, registration sessions, and orientations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with College offices, community-based organizations, and school districts to support students' career and academic advising needs.
  • Communicate with students at high school and through social media to encourage and support progress.
  • Collaborate with support services staff at the college, such as Tutoring, Accessibility Services, Advising, and Enrollment Services.
  • Assist in developing and providing information about colleges, admissions requirements, financial aid, and career information to students and their families.
  • Prepare and lead orientations and program-related workshops at Saugus High School and NSCC campuses. Example training: MyNorthShore, Blackboard, and Navigate.
  • Maintain confidential data and abide by all laws and policies that govern student privacy.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of varying racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, disability, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with a diversity of learning styles.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for students as appropriate.
  • General liaison between Saugus Public Schools and North Shore Community College
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Earned Bachelor's degree in a field such as education, counseling, social work, sociology, or psychology is required. Current enrollment or graduation from a post-baccalaureate degree in any of these fields or higher education will also be considered. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience providing direct support to diverse student populations is required, preferably in a community college and/or High School setting.
  • Ability to connect with and design and implement programming for Early College/Dual Enrollment students.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills.
  • A strong commitment to diversity and social justice.
  • Experience in higher education in an urban setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with virtual and hybrid educational technologies preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • Local candidates are preferable as on-campus activities will be required.
  • Ability to travel between campuses and off-site locations as needed.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
