The Data Architect is accountable for the technical leadership of an assigned domain of services, components, or products responsible for overall data architecture, design, development, quality, delivery and operations. Accountable for defining technology standards, data architecture and technical roadmaps to drive technical team excellence and to promote development and implementation of highly integrated, cost effective, reliable, secure, performant and scalable products and systems. Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external partners and customers to ensure integrated data solutions are developed, communicated, and accepted to deliver the best customer experience. Applies advanced data technologies and process concepts to solve complex problems in alignment with PattersonÂs business objectives.

Research, advocates, and implements data architecture and design patterns for technical domain and creates data vision and roadmaps that meet business needs across performance, stability, compliance and innovation.
Design, develop, and implement data architecture solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Establishes data standards and guidelines for conformity that will be used in all phases of the technology life cycle.
Interfaces with key stakeholders on data solutions and business impact.
Discovers, prototypes and recommends new and emerging data technologies and software product ideas to drive product domain forward.
Collaborates with other architects to help promote and ensure overall architecture alignment.
Conduct data architecture reviews and provide recommendations for improvements and optimizations.
Develops relationships and communication strategies among technology teams and business stakeholders.
Works with engineers and product leaders to ensure that new or changed software applications and technologies fit into data architecture strategy and are integrated without duplication.
Provides mentoring and technical advice to senior engineers and other team members.
Inspires and drives engineering and operational excellence.
Advocates for shared software vision and strategy with various parts of the organization.
Additional functions
In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may perform the following additional functions.
Serves as design reviewer for other product domains.
Assists with patent and intellectual property reviews.
Provides technical insight for the creation of business cases and models.
Required Qualifications
BachelorÂs or advanced degree in computer science or the equivalent in directly related experience
7+ years progressive experience in enterprise-wide programs and at least 3 years of experience leading data design, implementation and/or process activities
Demonstrated experience as a Data Architect, designing and implementing data solutions including relational and non-relational data stores
Demonstrated experience in one or more modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, GCP BigQuery) and other modern data technologies
In-depth understanding of industry best practices, as well as ability to leverage both proven and innovative technology approaches to solve challenging business and product problems
Experience translating business needs into data requirements and presenting ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language to all levels of management and staff
In-depth knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT as it pertains to SaaS products and driving analytics along with AI/ML capabilities
Hands-on experience building modern data architectures in large-scale SaaS products
Experience in modular design for Microservices, service oriented or domain driven focus, modular design of client facing applications, architecting for SaaS applications, cloud-based applications, DevOps, open-source tech stack, security, scalability, performance tuning
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Azure PaaS capabilities and solutions
Implementing Lean principles in large products and organizations
Familiarity with machine learning and AI technologies
Office environment  either in Patterson facility or at home/remote location
Travel to corporate sites is periodically required (Quarterly or so)
Periodic on call rotations and available outside of normal business hours on evenings and weekends during critical production release or issue escalation periods
