Position Summary



As part of an anticipated multiyear expansion, the Department of Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invites applications for two tenure track/tenured faculty positions at the assistant/associate/full professor level with an August 1, 2024 start date.



Created in 2006, IU's Department of Statistics currently offers both graduate and undergraduate degree programs and maintains the Indiana Statistical Consulting Center. Current faculty research interests include statistical learning, network analysis, high-dimensional statistics, spatial statistics, Bayesian inference, causal inference, with applications to neuroimaging, microbiome, genetics and phylogenetics, and human rights data. We are co-located with the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering which is expanding its initiatives in Artificial Intelligence. Pre-tenure hires receive up to six course releases to be used prior to tenure in consultation with the department chair. Typically, these are taken one per year during the probationary period.

Basic Qualifications



Applicants should have a strong record of research productivity commensurate with experience, teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to department service. The faculty hired will be expected to pursue external research funding. A Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, or a closely related field is required. Applicants with strong interdisciplinary interests are welcome. There is the potential of structuring synergistic relationships with other campus units into our formal offers.
