Edith Bowen Laboratory School is looking for a part time Spanish Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver classroom Spanish language and culture instruction
  • Collaborate with colleagues on designing high-quality student learning and meeting students? needs
  • Develop and demonstrate creative educational programs, techniques, and practices
  • Coordinate and facilitate services and assessment for multi-lingual learners (i.e. serve as ESL coordinator and teacher)
  • Participate research as needed, and cooperate with university, state, and local educational agencies
  • Create place-based, project-based, hands-on lesson plans using a constructivist approach
  • Keep in contact with parents/guardians on a regular basis and report any incidents to the Director and individuals involved
  • Become familiar with student individualized education plans and see that they are implemented
  • Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students based upon a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology
  • Establish and maintain appropriate behavior policies and procedures
  • Prepare materials and classroom for class activities
  • Serve on faculty committees
  • Other assignments as needed
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor?s degree
  • Experience in teaching Spanish language and culture
  • Effective communication skills in dealing with children, parents, college students and professional colleagues
  • Excellent teaching skills and commitment to serving students
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to program implementation and scheduling
  • Experience with the use of technology in instruction
  • Knowledge, or willingness to gain knowledge, regarding the science of reading and its role in literacy instruction
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in elementary education
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of constructivist learning theory and application
  • Experience with integrated instruction
  • Experience teaching Spanish language and culture in a school setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Education and training: Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects.
  • English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.

Edith Bowen Laboratory School is a publicly chartered, university laboratory school within the College of Education and Human Services at Utah State University. There are approximately 358 students in grades Kindergarten through sixth.
