The Controller holds a leadership role, overseeing a team and contributing significantly as an individual; delivering top-notch outsourced controllership, advisory services, and strategic guidance to diverse... clients. This pivotal position alleviates entrepreneurs from the complexities of financial management, offering actionable solutions. Controllership duties involve meticulously reviewing monthly financial reports for accuracy and establishing robust internal processes and controls to mitigate risks. Advisory services assist clients in realizing their business visions by leveraging historical data and future projections to craft actionable plans. Responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, analytics, and KPI development, along with providing insights, recommendations, and driving strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will possess inherent organizational skills and be comfortable managing up to 15 clients while leading a team of 6 to 10. The role demands swift decision-making based on relevant information to minimize risks. Responding actively and positively to various challenges and time constraints is essential. The Senior Controller must be self-driven, responsive, and capable of delivering exceptional strategic advisory and financial operations to clients, while effectively empowering a virtual team to ensure an unmatched client experience.
This role is integral to the leadership team and reports to an Assistant Director
 Lead and mentor the accounting team assigned to clients, fostering motivation and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service
 Provide coaching, timely feedback, and conduct reviews to set staff up for success
 Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's unique business and accounting needs, offering strategic leadership to enhance their accounting operations
 Manage month-end closing processes and distribute financial reports to all clients on a monthly basis
 Collaborate with client leadership on operational and strategic decisions, addressing accounting requests and questions promptly and effectively
 Drive financial planning and budgeting efforts, including developing annual budgets and maintaining cash forecasting tools to support long-term planning
 Monitor budget performance, provide insights for adjustments as necessary, and review financial and operating metrics using dashboards and KPIs
 Analyze financial and operational data to deliver meaningful recommendations, identifying trends, risks, and growth opportunities
 Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to guide strategic decision-making
 Conduct regular client conference calls to review strategy, current and future needs, and operational changes impacting financial results
 Assist in gathering tax-related information for external tax return preparation and coordinate information provision for external audits
 Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
 Review and approve monthly and quarterly tax filings, including use/sales tax, property tax returns, and payroll tax returns prepared by accounting specialists
 Undertake special projects as requested by clients
Requirements
To be considered for this position, the candidate will need:
 Active CPA/CMA or MBA
 Transferable knowledge in accounting and financial analysis for businesses in the $5M to $50M market
 Manufacturing Industry experience
 10 Years Supervisory Experience
 Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
 Possesses an adaptive leadership style, driven by a passion for mentoring staff and fostering teamwork and collaboration across all organizational levels
 Demonstrates expertise in actively managing accounting functions for small to medium-sized enterprises, ensuring efficient and effective operations
 Exhibits comfort with change and displays agility in adapting priorities as needed
 Applies a technical and analytical focus to handling complex issues, consistently finding creative solutions even in challenging situations
 Communicates effectively through both written and oral channels, expressing ideas confidently and articulately
 Maintains exceptional organizational skills and thrives in managing daily, weekly, and monthly priorities simultaneously
 Demonstrates strong proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, and other accounting software packages, with a keen interest in learning new technologies
 Thrives in fast-paced environments, prioritizing tasks with a sense of urgency to deliver timely and high-quality results
 Makes quick decisions based on knowledge and experience, operating within established standards and guidelines
 Adapts seamlessly to various client environments, ensuring effective collaboration and support
 Possesses a high degree of computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel
 Willingness to travel when necessary to fulfill job requirements
