Investigative Feature Producer II
Posted 2025-04-06The ESPN Investigative Feature Producer II will produce short and longform video journalism for various platforms, including but not limited to linear TV, digital, streaming, and social media. The producer will conduct all aspects of production from story conception through execution, all with the oversite of the senior producer and digital editor. The Investigative Feature Producer II generates... story ideas and reports, assists with research, writes scripts, conducts interviews, can edit, and lead projects while discovering creative ways to present our journalism. Investigative journalism efforts often lack rich visual assets despite every effort having been made to acquire them; as a result, a demonstrated history of visual creativity, story development, and ambitious design by the producer is required.
Responsibilities:  Produces short and longform feature stories, profiles, investigations and documentaries, from concept to completion for various platforms  Adheres to journalism ethics and best practices  Generates, researches and pitches story ideas  Determines the content, writing, editing style and storyline of features working with the reporter and senior manager
Basic Qualifications:  Arranges and oversees logistics for feature shoots, including equipment and crews  Works with reporters on writing outlines and scripts  Prepares for and leads edit sessions to achieve the desired storyline and deliverables  Plans and directs the work of freelance production personnel and freelance technicians during production  Has video editing skills in the Adobe Suite, specifically Adobe Premiere
Preferred Qualifications:  Presents work for review to the Coordinating Producer and Digital Editor and embraces feedback  Develops concepts and content for feature stories to reach viewers and increase ESPN's market penetration, ratings, viewership, and social media reach  Provides regular feedback and mentoring to Associate Producers and Content Associates in decisions regarding the full scope of creative, content, production and cost/benefit decisions for assigned feature stories and investigations  Continuously pushes the envelope creatively while working within confines of budget restrictions of the unit  Works independently when necessary  Embraces and seeks knowledge of technological advances in field and post-production  Actively maximizes cross-platform potential of feature production
Required Education:
 High School Diploma
Preferred Education:
 Bachelors Degree in Communication Arts, television Production or equivalent combination of education experience.
The hiring range for this remote position is $106,682 - $164,560 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidateÂs geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered
