The Supervisor, Catalyst / Separations Lab will be responsible for the safe operation of the process equipment within the applicable site safety policies and the safety, supervision, and career development of the technicians who operate, trouble shoot, sample, maintain, and modify the equipment in Pilot Plant Operations. Units are pilot scale... and are used to support catalyst testing, feedstock evaluations, and optimization of P66 commercial facilities in Hydrotreating/Hydrocracking, Reforming, and Distillations. Units operate with a wide variety of feedstocks. The Supervisor also interfaces with research groups to discuss experimental test conditions, resultant data, unit modifications, and new unit construction/design and provides operating direction to the technicians to advance research objectives.
Responsibilities May Include:
 Safe operations of staff and equipment aligned with corporate, site operating and safety policies
 Direct supervision, coaching, and career development of operations staff
 Ensure direct reports have the proper safety, job and unit training
 Regular interaction with ERI groups to align work plans, timelines and deliverables to communicate quality unit test results
 Coordinate Management of Change (MOC) documentation
 Coordinate and document unit/equipment inspections PMÂs
 Investigate incidents and near misses for root cause
 Participation in site safety committees
 Prioritizing projects and workload for technicians and available equipment
 Schedule and approve time off and vacations for direct reports
 Maintain day-to-day operational activities and needs of all units
 Coordinate work activities between maintenance and operations
 Organize and oversee unit modifications and turnarounds
 Oversee the installation of new units and modifications to existing units
Required Qualifications:  Legally authorized to work in the job posting country and a valid driver's license.  Associate degree in Engineering or Science related field  10 or more years of relevant experience in refining, oil and gas or other related operations  3 or more years of experience in a direct supervisory role or in a leadership role such as shift lead, team lead, etc.  Advanced proficiency in process safety management and behavior-based safety practices  Basic proficiency in math and computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
Preferred Qualifications:  BachelorÂs degree in engineering or science related field  Proven ability to manage a very diverse set of assignments and priorities  Proven ability to work within a team setting  Strong verbal and written communication skills including detailed documentation  Experience with process safety management and behavior-based safety practices  Experience in managing team resources across a very diverse set of assignments and priorities  Proven ability to adapt and adjust quickly to directional changes from research initiatives  Ability to self-direct and work without close supervision  Ability to manage a very diverse set of assignments and priorities
