The Tribal Liaison builds partnerships, bridges communication and offer solutions through a culturally appropriate delivery system for Native American Communities statewide. They work with Tribal partners and community providers to develop and facilitate health services that are culturally responsive. In addition, they work with internal teams within the New Mexico market, particularly around topics of provider adequacy for the AI/AN managed care population, culturally appropriate care, coordination for members, adherence to Tribal sovereignty, appropriate protocols and regulations and collaboration on cultural humility. This is a New Mexico based position.

Primary Responsibilities
 Serve as the primary point of contact for Tribes and external agency Offices of Tribal Affairs, Pueblos, Navajo Nation and Apache Tribes, NM I/T/UÂs, Albuquerque Area IHS, Navajo Area IHS involving the triaging and assisting with inquiries to internal departments
 Provide external communication of UnitedHealthcare processes and operations, by facilitating meetings between Tribal Partners and internal staff and representing the company at meetings, forums and conferences (e.g., HCA, Regional & Statewide Tribal, Individual Tribal)
 Engage contracting and clinical operations in creation of tribal/uhc agreements for delegation of care coordination, case management, transportation and varied services depending on tribal entity
 Coordinate with internal Operations and Tribal Provider team to maintain current and accurate I/T/U Facilities/providers loaded in system
 Plan and work with provider services staff to expand and enhance physical and behavioral health services for AI/AN members
 Serve as point of contact with Tribal entities and staff on AI/AN issues and concerns
 Advocate for AI/AN enrollees with case management and member services staff
 Work with Tribal Partners to implement new and modified benefits or protocols for Indian healthcare providers (IHCP), coordinate education to clinical staff and members
 Attend training conducted by IHCP, American Indian Health Commission (AIHC), OHCA and Indian Policy Advisory Committee on topics related to AI/AN health disparities, health care delivery systems, government-to-government relationships, federal and state laws and regulations, AI/AN contract provisions and matters specific to IHCPs
 Interface with the New Mexico Office of Tribal Affairs to represent UnitedHealthcare and advise on managed care initiatives regarding Tribal partners
 Participate in internal Operational meetings and administration of Tribal providers and benefits

Required Qualifications
 3+ Tribal claims operations and I/T/U claims payment experience
 1+ years in tribal community outreach, tribal engagement, or social work experience
 Staff management/ oversight experience as a Supervisor, Manager, SME, Lead and/or Consultant
 Demonstrated knowledge of tribal communities, cultural background of Native American communities
 Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
 Willing and able to travel 25-30% of the time depending on business need within the contiguous counties in assigned territory
 Reside in New Mexico or willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications
 Undergraduate degree or higher
 Proven ability to One Native American spoken language
