National Sales Director Food Broker- Costco Wholesale
Posted 2025-04-06The National Sales Director contributes to the success of The Company by generating new business opportunities, acquiring new customers, and selling additional products with existing vendors in a fast paced environment. This is done in tandem by managing buyer relationships and expectations and working closely as a member of our Sales team. This position requires exercise of discretion in prioritization of work and reports to the Managing Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Focus sales efforts on identifying new market trends and customer needs while increasing value of current vendors.
· Establish rapport and cultivate relationships with Costco buyers, current vendors, and potential new vendors
· Develop growth strategies focused on both vendor and Costco needs, while working closely with vendor and internal team
· Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, and new products, and ensure our vendors remain appropriately... competitive
· Design and implement annual sales plans to develop business and achieve company growth
· Collaborate with regional and corporate Costco buyers to develop rapport, understand their needs, and position our vendors and company for growth
· Meets with Costco buyers in person, virtually, and on phone, and follows up effectively with internal team as well as with vendors
· Works closely with sales support team to ensure current business is managed and maintained
· Ensures vendors are updated throughout the sales and post sales process
· Communicates in a timely manner as an extension of the vendor and works closely with management to ensure value is created for Costco.
· Assists sales support team in proactively solving allocation and delivery issues
· Collaborates with other departments regarding team meetings, assurance of accurate POÂs, on time shipping, sample tracking and making sure buying teams are kept informed.
· Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
· Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
 5+ years of sales or buying experience required
 Experience selling to Costco or the wholesale club channel required
 Knowledge of MS Office. Strong proficiency in Excel preferred
 Proficient in retail math including an understanding of financial metrics.
 Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
 Excellent product and category knowledge
 Ability to work cooperatively with employees and vendors.
 Ability to understand Costco and Market trends
 25%-50% travel required
 Able to function well amidst shifting priorities while effectively managing deadlines
 Ability to work from home
