About the position

The High School Special Education Teacher at Stride, Inc. is responsible for delivering specialized instruction in an online environment to students with special needs. This role involves managing the learning process, providing support and guidance, and ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher will work closely with students, parents, and related service staff to facilitate a personalized and engaging educational experience, while also maintaining a professional home office environment.

Responsibilities
• Deliver specific course content in an online environment for students with special needs.

• Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students as defined by their IEPs.
,
• Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies are provided.
,
• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation.
,
• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
,
• Use provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
,
• Make modifications to lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
,
• Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom.
,
• Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals.
,
• Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
,
• Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
,
• Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
,
• Commit to personalizing learning for all students.
,
• Maintain a grade book ensuring academic integrity and alert administrators to concerns about student performance.
,
• Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
,
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and learning coaches.
,
• Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment.
,
• Travel up to 20% for professional development and student testing.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
,
• Active state teaching license in Arizona.
,
• Ability to clear required background check.
,
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data.
,
• Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in online teaching environments.

• Familiarity with assistive technology and supplemental curriculum for special education.
