POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Product Costing Analyst is responsible for the gathering, analyzing, and evaluating of enterprise-wide costs associated with purchasing, producing, and assembling products within the company. The financial insights and recommendations provided by the product costing analyst play a crucial role in the decision-making processes related to pricing, production efficiency, cost optimization, and product mix strategy to achieve company financial metrics.
JOB DUTIES:
 COGS Analysis - Conduct analyses of product costs, including materials, labor, overhead, distribution, and other associated expenses
 Variance Analysis - Conduct analyses between variations of standard projected costs and actual costs, working cross functionally to understand origin of discrepancies and jointly proposing corrective actions where necessary
 Profitability Analysis - Evaluating profitability of individual products, product lines and customer programs, considering both direct costs and indirect expenses, and making recommendations for pricing adjustments or cost improvements to achieve financial targets
 Cost Forecasting - Assist in the development of cost forecasts and budgets for new and existing products, providing accurate cost projections to support business planning activities
 Costing Development - Assist in development of optimized costing targets through vendor pricing and product profitability analysis
 Process Improvement - Collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement throughout product lifecycle, from design and development to production and distribution
 Data Management - Maintain accurate cost data and documentation, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and internally set control standards, processes, and best practices
 Reporting - Prepare regular reports and presentations summarizing cost analysis findings, key financial metrics relevant to business, and recommendations for management review
 Cost Modeling - Develop and maintain cost models to simulate different what-if scenarios, assessing the impact of various factors on product costs, profitability, and key financial metrics relevant to business
 Ad Hoc Analysis - Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects, including periodic request for quote involvement, as requested by management, providing insights to support strategic decision-making
 All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & Education Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or relevant experience  Proven experience in cost analysis, financial planning and analysis, or related roles within a manufacturing or product-oriented industry  Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions  Demonstrated agility in navigating through complex data with shifting product landscapes and being able to identify value drivers within product performance  Proficiency in financial modeling and Excel required  Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting software is preferred  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and present comprehensive findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization  Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on organization, accuracy, and precision in financial analysis and reporting  Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment  Team player with a positive attitude, customer focus, and solution-oriented approach, balanced with being able to conduct work in an autonomous and collaborative environment  Occasional travel may be required
