Skills:

• Strong understanding of residential mortgage lending
• Proficient in Conventional, FHA, and VA underwriting
• Familiarity with FNMA and FHLMC guidelines
• Ability to perform credit analysis and risk assessment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and compliance with standards and guidelines
• Analyze various financial ratios and documentation to identify potential fraud or misrepresentation
• Understand and evaluate different types of tax returns
• Verify accuracy between company systems and Automated Underwriting System
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of each loan
• Review appraisals to ensure compliance with market and investor standards
• Request additional documentation or information as needed

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter (both government and conventional)
• Experience with underwriting within the Empower Loan Origination System
• Direct Endorsement (DE) certification required
• VA LAPP certification preferred
