What you’re applying for

We’re looking for a Decision Scientist who is ready to revolutionize car insurance with us.

In this role, you’ll be working on the Actuarial team to build advanced pricing models & tools and bring pricing discipline to all facets of Lemonade - from distribution to underwriting, claims, compliance, and finance. You’ll leverage competitive data and data science to optimize our customers’ experience— and ensure fairness and accuracy in pricing.

In this role you’ll
• Be an owner and expert of our car insurance pricing program
• Collaborate extensively with the Data Science team to develop, file and implement new predictive models
• Leverage our telematics technology and data to build our next generation car pricing program
• Lead research to identify pricing and underwriting opportunities and partner with Insurance Product, Underwriting and Insurance Operations to implement the proposed actions
• Assist in the design and development of internal pricing software for advanced analytics to support real-time decision making and scalable growth

What you’ll need
• 7+ years experience building insurance pricing programs using advanced modeling techniques
• Proficiency in data science programming languages (Python and SQL strongly preferred)
• Advanced experience developing and implementing predictive models using both supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches such as GLM, decision tree, and gradient boosting machines
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• Prior personal insurance industry experience a plus
• Ability to work remotely

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000 - $190,000 equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
