ABOUT THE ROLE
The Certified Coding & Billing Specialist performs various duties to accurately interpret and bill charges for infusion services. They are responsible for entering into the billing system appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes bill charges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
 Perform initial charge review to determine appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes to be used to report services to third party payers
 Interpret progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and charge documents to determine services provided and accurately assign CPT, HCPCS, ASA and ICD-10-CM coding to these service
 Enter appropriate data into the billing system by selecting the appropriate codes, diagnosis, modifiers, and figures time based on the start and stop of the infusion case
 Contact providers regarding procedures and other services billed to ensure proper coding
 Responsible for reviewing patient logs and other reports of clinical activity to ensure billing is captured for all patients
 Monitor and follow up to ensure all services that can be billed are captured and coded for billing
 Ensure the batch processes for all coded charges
 Utilize batch-logging systems to comply with internal audit standards
 Review all provider documentation to ensure compliance with third party and regulatory guidelines
 Work in conjunction with the other billing and front desk staff to answer all inquiries regarding coding and billing for services
 Work follow-up of unpaid claims and answer patient calls
 Perform duties and job functions in accordance with the policies and procedures established for the department
 Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvements in department's efficiency and services performed
 Take ownership of special projects, research data and follow through with detailed action plans
 Actively participate in problem identification and resolution and coordinate resolutions between appropriate parties
 Ensuring compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
 Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
 Knowledge of current third-party billing and collection regulatory guidelines and requirements
 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
 Strong people skills
 Outstanding organizational skills
 Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
 Proficiency with standard office software applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
 High school diploma or GED completion is required
 Maintain Certified Professional Coder standing
 Five years experience with CPT/ICD-10 coding of physician services preferred
WAGE RANGE
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and is benchmarked against similar organizations to our size and industry. For our Financial Counselor role, we generally pay new hires between $20.00 and $23.50 per hour. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for roles and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. In addition to cash pay, full-time regular employees are eligible for 401(k), health benefits, and other company benefits; some of these benefits may also be available for part-time positions.
