The Youth Ministry Intern leads the Youth Ministry at CrossTrail Community Church, focusing on high school and middle school students and their parents.

Primary Responsibilities: The Youth Ministry Intern position at CrossTrail Community Church encompasses the following specific areas of responsibility: • Youth Ministry Team - Build, lead and schedule a team of volunteer leaders to assist in pouring into students and implementing all aspects of the Youth Ministry. • Youth Ministry Sunday Morning Program - Plan and lead Sunday morning Youth Connect for middle- and high-school students using curriculum approved by the Pastor. • Reach Events - Oversee the process of conceiving, organizing and implementing monthly events designed to encourage students to invite their unchurched friends and/or to make connections with teens in the community. • Relationship-Building - Connect with students outside of Sunday morning and programmed events. Show a personal interest in each of them to invest in their well-being and earn the right to be heard. • Retreats & Camps - Plan and implement at least one annual weekend retreat to provide an extended time for connecting and growing spiritually. These can include cooperative events with other like-minded churches or para-church organizations like CCYC. Also coordinate the youth to attend a Christian summer camp together and, if possible, be present in some role. • Discipleship - Lead the students by word and example to grow their relationship with Jesus through daily Bible reading and prayer and to do the things a disciple does, including serving in the church and the community, worship and other opportunities. • Parent Communication/Support - Communicate well with the parents to keep them informed and to equip and support them in discipling their teens. • Church Worship and Events - The Youth Ministry Intern worships with the church and functions within the staff team towards the church’s missional objectives, intentionally building relationships at worship services, welcoming and connecting with visitors, and assisting with all church outreach and fellowship events.

The Youth Ministry Intern is not expected to personally do all the tasks associated with the ministry. The objectives will be fulfilled through recruiting, training, empowering and encouraging volunteers to use their spiritual gifts to fulfill the mission of the church within the Youth Ministry.

Other General Staff Responsibilities: • Participate in the life of the church as a fully committed follower of Jesus: i.e. Connect Group, Grow Group, tithing (10% of income), sharing your faith. These things are expected of every mission partner and must be modeled by all leaders. • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings and staff development times. • Practice a deep devotional life of time with God utilizing spiritual disciplines. • Continued honing of spiritual gifts and leadership skills. • Complete duties in a timely manner as set by the Senior Pastor. • Be promptly responsive to all church and ministry-related communications. • Agree to and support the CrossTrail Community Church statement of beliefs as contained in the church’s by-laws and prioritize the unity of the church. • Assist with planning and implementing church outreach events. • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Needed:
• Ability to articulate his/her faith and the foundational principles of Christianity.
• Good knowledge of Scripture and the ability to apply it practically to life.
• Authentic love for teenagers and understanding of their culture.
• Excellent communication skills, responsiveness and being on time.
• Ability to reach and disciple people for Jesus Christ in the church and the community.
• Ability to train and lead volunteers in team ministry.
• Efficiency with technology and apps including Planning Center and Google Workspace (training provided).
• Willingness to work well with others and build healthy relationships with staff and volunteers.
• Ability to maintain positive speech and attitude, believing the best about others.
• Commitment to avoid gossip and to resolve conflict biblically by going to the person directly (Matt. 18:15-17)

Coaching: The Youth Ministry Intern receives regular coaching from the Pastor, either weekly or every other week for about an hour. This can be done in person or via video chat.

Desired Outcomes:
• In a healthy Youth Ministry, many teens will accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
• In a healthy Youth Ministry, volunteers will enjoy their experience, be well trained, and given meaningful responsibility that bonds them together and with the students.
• In a healthy Youth Ministry, unchurched teens will be getting connected through outreach initiatives and being discipled.
• In a healthy Youth Ministry, parents will feel informed, supported and equipped to disciple their own teens at home.

Compensation: This is a salaried, part-time position with an expectation of approximately 10-12 hours per week, on average.

Benefits: This postion can be tailored to an internship for someone with little ministry experience. Apart from Sunday worship and Tuesday evening staff meetings, all other hours are flexible and can be done remotely. Paid time off is available within reason upon request and approval by the supervisor. Contributions can be made, by choice, to the church retirement plan.
