Overview

A Washington, D.C. based government contracting firm is seeking an internal Human Resource and Payroll Specialist to run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including on-boarding / off-boarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices as well as process payroll and maintain employee time records.

In Short
• Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with training and assessments.
• Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
• Administers human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
• Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees.
• Maintains compliance with employment laws and regulations.
• Processes payroll information and ensures proper deductions.
• Records and processes payroll tax deposits.
• Maintains knowledge of HR trends and best practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to learn HRIS and payroll software quickly.
