What you will be doing:
You will be responsible for general physician practice billing collections functions. This will include contacting patient regarding outstanding balances. As well as moving delinquent accounts to collections agency. You may need to answer patient questions regarding their accounts and insurance and collect patient payments, as needed. You may participate in special projects, such as reviewing/processing refunds and adjustments, and other duties as assigned. Hours are generally M-F 8A-5P with some flexibility.
What you will need:
Experience:
 At least 2 years of recent direct experience in Medical Billing for a specialty physician/group practice required; 5+ years preferred
 At least 2 years of recent direct experience in Insurance Claims AR Follow-up ("collections") required; 5+ years preferred
 NOTE: dental, vision, chiropractic, and mental health experience will not be considered towards the requirements for this position
 At least 1 year of experience using an EMR required
Skills:
 Ability communicate directly with the patient
 Ability to follow up on customer inquiries not immediately resolved
 Research billing issues and misapplied payments
 Knowledge of basic coding (CPT/HCPCS/ICD10) principles
 Knowledge of all aspects of the billing process
 Knowledge of third-party payers, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
 Knowledge of ERAs, EOBs, CMS1500, and electronic claims
 Knowledge of health plan benefits (deductibles, copays, coinsurance) and eligibility verification
 Self-Starter with a positive attitude
 Detail oriented
 Ability to work as part of a team
 Ability to work with limited supervision
 Excellent critical thinking, investigational, and problem-solving skills
 Strong time management, multi-tasking, prioritization, and organizational skills
 Strong oral and written communication skills
 Proficient in general computer (PC) and website use
Education:
 High School Diploma or Equivalency required
 Related billing or coding certifications preferred
