Ladder Health, an innovative virtual care platform built alongside expert clinicians at Boston Children's Hospital, serves as an end-to-end developmental partner for children (0-6 years old) with developmental delays. Ladder Health offers an alternative to waitlisted state-based programs or private pay practices, guiding families through our developmental screener, clinical evaluations, and comprehensive virtual care with specialized therapists (PT, OT, SLP). Our platform supports a coordinated care plan with resources, HIPAA-compliant messaging, and integration with pediatric care teams, primarily monetized through Fee-for-Service (FFS) therapy revenues. Ladder partners with pediatricians and community organizations to improve access and quality of care for families.
Role Overview:
The Medical Director will serve as a key leader in expanding Ladder Health's referral network and enhancing physician-to-physician education. The role supports clinical outreach, strategic engagement, and research initiatives, advocating for virtual care as a valuable delivery model for early intervention services.
Key Responsibilities
 Referral Partner Education and Support
 Collaborate closely with local business development resources (Ladder Liaisons) to educate referral partners (pediatricians, clinics, etc.) on Ladder Health's services and processes
 Conduct physician-to-physician outreach and educational sessions to highlight the benefits and effectiveness of virtual care delivery, citing research and real-world evidence examples
 Assist in escalation support when providers need clarification on the value of virtual care models
 Representation at Medical Events
 Represent Ladder Health at local, regional, and national medical conferences, including speaking engagements, research presentations, and panel discussions
 Build relationships with medical directors and healthcare leaders to enhance Ladder Health's credibility, brand awareness and reach
 Clinical Research and Academic Partnerships
 Leverage relationships with academic institutions, hospital systems, and physician groups to establish research collaborations that evaluate Ladder Health's services in real-world settings, enhancing our evidence base and credibility through trusted medical and academic affiliations
 Contribute to a publication strategy that resonates with the academic medical community by:
 Identifying high-impact journals and conferences for dissemination
 Co-authoring white papers, peer-reviewed articles, or poster presentations that highlight the efficacy of Ladder Health's virtual care services
 Ensuring research findings are framed within evidence-based clinical guidelines and current pediatric care standards
 Facilitate collaboration with academic partners to generate publications that support Ladder Health's thought leadership and clinical credibility
 Product and Platform Strategy
 Provide clinical insights to inform the design and evolution of Ladder Health's virtual care platform, ensuring it meets the needs of patients, families, and providers
 Support the analysis and communication of clinical outcomes, integrating insights into the product strategy to drive evidence-based improvements
 Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure clinical workflows are optimized for virtual care delivery and align with best practices in developmental pediatrics
 Develop feedback loops with referring providers and partners to refine services, address challenges, and reinforce the value of virtual care delivery models
 Advocacy for Virtual Care
 Serve as a clinical advocate for virtual care models in early intervention, promoting acceptance and integration among healthcare providers
 Utilize your professional social media platforms to share insights and thought leadership on the benefits of virtual care in early childhood development, strategically positioning Ladder Health's services and mission when appropriate
Qualifications
Education:
 MD or DO with current medical license; board certification in pediatrics, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, or a related field preferred
Experience:
 10+ years of clinical experience in pediatrics, developmental medicine, or early childhood care
 5+ years of demonstrated expertise with virtual care delivery models
 Proven experience in educational outreach, peer-to-peer physician engagement, or clinical advocacy
 Demonstrable thought leadership through research, publications, conference presentations, or academic affiliations
 Strong social media presence with audiences relevant to healthcare, pediatrics, or developmental care
Skills:
 Exceptional communication and presentation skills tailored to clinical and academic audiences
 Proven ability to engage skeptics and advocate for the adoption of innovative care models
 Deep understanding of virtual care delivery and developmental health services
 Strategic relationship-building skills to establish and navigate research partnerships with academic institutions and healthcare organizations
Travel:
 Willingness to travel for conferences, partner meetings, research collaborations, and outreach events
