Lifeway is seeking an Acquisitions Editor | Remote for B&H Academic. The Acquisitions Editor oversees new editions, custom projects, and expedited academic products to ensure that quality and content align with B&H's vision statement and publishing guidelines.

Responsibilities
 Serves as primary B&H point-of-contact for new editions, custom projects, and expedited products and maintains relationships with authors
 Serves as acquisition editor for B&H Academic
 Pursues strategic relationships with faculty, administrators, and other potential authors
 Presents proposals to the pub board meeting
 Creates contract terms with authors and submits contract requests
 Connects authors/clients with other B&H Academic areas, including Marketing and Production
 Partners with the Associate Director to ensure authors understand manuscript requirements
 Facilitates manuscript submission and determines acceptability of finished works
 Works with authors to modify manuscripts in light of editorial concerns, approves all edits
 Works with freelance editors and designers to facilitate copy editing, typesetting and book cover production; maintains a pool of qualified freelance editors and coordinates their timely efforts on authors' manuscripts
 Coordinates efforts of authors and freelance editors to ensure all books meet publishing deadlines
 Participates in strategic planning and in shaping B&H AcademicÂs future publishing goals
 Visits academic institutions and represents B&H Academic at conferences and industry events
 Some travel required
Qualifications
Education
M.Div or MA, required
PhD or PhD in progress, strongly preferred
Other Experience
 1-2 years formal writing, editing, or publishing experience
 Proficient with Microsoft Office
 Familiarity with biblical Greek and Hebrew
 Strong communication and organization skills
 Editorial skills suitable for writing book descriptions and pub board summaries
 Excellent at initiating and maintaining author relationships and book idea development
 Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and exercise good time management
 Willingness to handle financial negotiations
