Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic learner with an interest in copyediting and content design to join our Risk Engineering team as a Summer Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the content creation process, including copyediting and formatting technical safety content and digital learning for The Hartford’s customers and field staff. Key Responsibilities: Copyedit drafts of technical content written by subject matter experts to align with readability, voice, brand, and grammar standards. Support copyediting work for safety program guidance, white papers, instructional videos, and safety e-learning materials. Use InDesign to format content using pre-approved templates and relevant stock photos. Review AI-generated material for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with company standards. Correspond with content owners and brand experts to get approval on final product. Upload finished product to the content library following titling and tagging guidelines. Qualifications: Currently pursuing a degree in Risk Management, English, Writing, or Communications, or a Media Design degree with a minor in those areas. Experience or aptitude in copyediting, including the ability to adjust written content for its intended audience without altering the meaning. Experience or aptitude in using document design tools such as InDesign. Keen eye for detail in visual design and grammar/language. Ability to manage task list to deliver quality content on time. Ability to work independently and as part of a team while performing job duties remotely. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
