Junior Data Analyst
Posted 2025-04-06We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Data Analyst to join our healthcare regulatory compliance and audit team. This role will primarily focus on medical audit sampling, data analysis, and reporting to support our organization's compliance and audit initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare data analysis and the ability to automate sampling processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 Design and execute random sampling methodologies for medical record audits across multiple practices and hospitals
 Develop and maintain VBA macros to automate encounter selection and streamline audit processes
 Use statistical software (RAT-STATS or similar) to determine appropriate sample sizes and confidence levels and calculate repayments based upon statistical principles
 Create and maintain audit tracking spreadsheets and reports
 Generate detailed documentation of sampling methodologies and selection criteria
 Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure audit data selection and sampling requirements are met
 Communicate with client organizations to obtain clean claims data for purposes of initiating data sampling
 Support data collection and analysis for quality improvement initiatives
 Maintain strict patient and organizational confidentiality
 Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel VBA for automation of sampling and reporting processes
 Experience with statistical sampling methodologies and software; experience with RAT-STATs software preferred
 Strong understanding of random sampling techniques and confidence intervals
 Experience with Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, charts, and graphs)
 Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data privacy requirements
Preferred Qualifications
 1-2 years of healthcare data analysis experience
 Experience with SQL and database management
 Knowledge of healthcare terminology and medical coding claims data
 Familiarity with electronic medical records (ÂEMRÂ) systems
 Experience with statistical software packages
Technical Skills
 Advanced Microsoft Excel and VBA programming
 Statistical sampling software; RAT-STATs preferred
 Basic SQL knowledge
 Data visualization tools
 Healthcare reporting systems
Key Projects Will Include
 Working with clients and compliance teams to obtain clean data and sample selection
 Developing automated tools for random encounter selection
 Creating repeatable sampling processes for regular audits
 Building tracking systems for multi-practice audit programs
 Generating statistical reports for compliance documentation
Working Conditions
 Full-time
 Remote
 Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
