About This Position
Our Market Risk team is hiring a Manager, Market Risk to oversee ERCOT Market Risk Team and directly contribute to the risk management processes and tools of the Team. The Manager, Market Risk will be primarily responsible for understanding, quantifying, and explaining market risks of Intersect PowerÂs ERCOT physical, financial positions and their interactions.
The Manager, Market Risk will expand upon Intersect PowerÂs ETRM system and modeling capabilities inside and outside of the ETRM. The Manager will play a lead role in satisfying reporting obligations Market Risk both to Intersect PowerÂs leadership and investors. The role will work closely with Origination & Trading/Operations and will report to the Senior Manager of Risk.
Responsibilities & Duties
 Ongoing development of the VaR & risk management platform
 Monitor risk limits against risk management policies
 Accurate and timely financial and physical position and exposure reporting
 Work with Structured Origination on pricing of derivative (Options, swaps) & hourly shaping
 Quantitative analysis on hedge effectiveness on an asset and portfolio basis
 Staying abreast of market developments (policy and tariff) and building a common understanding of their impacts on Intersect PowerÂs operating assets
 Identify and propose solutions to close risk policy gaps
 Complete in depth analysis of potential structured products transactions including risk adjustments to pricing
 Documenting and continuously improving risk controls
Qualifications & Skills  Superior front-end and back-end Python programming skills  Fluency in Pandas, NumPy, SK-Learn, Statsmodels, Scipy, Dash / Plotly  Advanced knowledge of time-series modeling and stochastic processes  Practical understanding of VaR, MVaR and Expected Shortfall / CVaR  Experience working within ETRM/TCS, Power Optix experience preferred  Experience working on / with trading teams  Commercially-minded, understanding the nature of business/revenue generation  Solid understanding U.S. power and gas markets  Excellent oral and written communication skills  5+ years of experience in a quantitative role  1-2 years experience managing a risk team  Experience working within Monte Carlo VaR platform preferred  Masters Degree in quantitative discipline preferred  A note on qualifications: Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they are able to perform every task in the job description.  Salary: USD$150,000 or CAD$203,000 base salary with 45% annual target bonus
