Position Overview:
Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a virtual learning environment. You will collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other professionals to ensure students with diverse needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities: Â Deliver individualized, engaging instruction to students with disabilities in a virtual classroom setting. Â Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Â Use data-driven instructional strategies and online tools to address the unique needs of each student. Â Regularly assess student progress, adapt instructional methods, and provide feedback. Â Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and create accommodations for students. Â Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and provide strategies for at-home support. Â Maintain thorough records, documentation, and compliance with IDEA and Ohio state regulations. Â Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing training.
Qualifications:  BachelorÂs degree in Special Education or a related field (MasterÂs preferred).  Valid Ohio teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.  Experience working with students with disabilities (autism, ADHD, speech/language disorders, etc.).  Ohio DOE Certification  BCI Background Check  Proficient in the use of virtual teaching platforms and educational technology.  Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.  Ability to provide differentiated instruction and manage a diverse caseload of students.
Preferred Skills:
 Experience in a virtual teaching environment.
 Familiarity with Ohio state standards and special education regulations.
 Proficiency with IEP writing and implementation in an online format.
 Ability to build positive relationships with students and families in a virtual setting.
