About the Company:
As a regional and globally recognized award-winning educational consultant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, Carter Hears! works collaboratively with educational organizations to meet the unique learning, communication and language needs of children, youth, and young adults who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school settings throughout the Carolinas.
Qualities:
The certified Teacher of the Deaf is an expert with specialized training in intervention and development of Deaf or Hard of Hearing students. As a member of the IEP or 504 Team, the Teacher of the Deaf is trained in specific techniques needed for intervention, provides educational recommendations, direct/indirect services, and ensures access required for language and academic development. Qualities include self-starter, reliable, organized, strong communication skills, flexibility, collaborative team member, compliance with state and federal regulations, efficient and creative problem solving.
Contractor Duties:
 Provide direct and indirect Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educational services based on Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
 Provide support services based on 504 plans
 Maintain Hearing Assistance Technology for assigned districts
 Evaluate students for eligibility under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
 Write IEPs and evaluation reports
 Provide training and guidance to teachers and service providers
 Maintain required paperwork and documentation of services
 Attend meetings as requested
 Maintain a consistent teaching schedule
Must pass a background check, maintain liability insurance, and provide proof of a TB Test
Education/Experience:
 BachelorÂs or MasterÂs in the area of Deaf Education
Minimum: student teaching must be completed
Certification:
 Certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the state in which you serve
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 Â 35 per week
