About the position

American National is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Complex Claims Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adjusting liability claims, excellent analytical, injury evaluation, and negotiation skills, and a customer-focused attitude. In this role, you will manage and resolve claims efficiently and effectively, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. To be successful, you should have liability claims adjusting experience, a solid understanding of the claims handling process, and both strong injury evaluation and negotiation skills. This role can be remote for candidates that are not located near an American National Office. As a Complex Claims Specialist, you will investigate, evaluate, and settle casualty claims in accordance with company policies and procedures. You will conduct detailed assessments of claims to determine liability, damages, and appropriate settlements. Effective communication with claimants, policyholders, legal professionals, and medical providers will be essential to gather necessary information and documentation. Maintaining accurate and thorough claim files, documenting all activities and decisions, is a critical part of your responsibilities. You will also provide exceptional customer service, addressing any questions or concerns promptly and professionally. Collaboration with internal departments will be necessary to ensure timely and efficient processing of claims. Staying current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to casualty claims is important for your success in this role. Additionally, you will participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, as well as maintain an active adjusters' license.

Responsibilities

Requirements
• Five years' or more of bodily injury claims handling experience
,
• Established injury evaluation and negotiation skills
,
• Understanding of statutes, case laws, and policy contracts
,
• Currently hold an appropriate state adjuster's license or willingness to obtain following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses)
,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a high attention to detail and follow-up

Nice-to-haves
• Experience handling high severity and complex bodily injury and property damage claims, including those triggering excess umbrella coverage
,
• Experience handling liability claims in a large territory to include multiple states and jurisdictions including the Northeastern states
,
• Professional certification (ex. CPCU, AIC) is a plus
