JOB DESCRIPTION
This role in our Alternative Investments practice assists in providing tax compliance & consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.
Job Duties
Tax Compliance
 Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (ÂTQMÂ).
 Applies understanding of clientÂs unique set of circumstances, documentation, and/or other requirements mandated by law and prepares required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation to ensure that the client is in full compliance, while keeping the clientÂs tax and reporting burdenÂs as low as possible;
 Ensures all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected; identifies and properly communicates missing items to prepare return;
 Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in tax prep process
 Effectively collaborates with Managers and Associates on completion of project (follow-up with Open items list)
 Delivers high quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services
 Leads complex engagements with a team of tax professionals
 Manages the engagement, including billing, collections, and the budget for projects
 Ensures/Documents client work and conclusions in the client tax file
Tax Consulting
 Assists with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies
Supervisory Responsibilities
Other duties as required
 Mentors teams of Associates
Education
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 BachelorÂs Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, required; OR Bachelor's degree in other focus area AND CPA certification, required
 MasterÂs Degree in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred
Experience
 Three (3) or more years of tax experience, required
 Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds including: Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, preferred
 Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships, preferred
License/Certifications
 CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (ÂEAÂ) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferred
 Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferred
Software
 Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat, preferred
 Experience with tax research databases, preferred
 Proficient in tax compliance process software, preferred
Language
 N/A

 Solid verbal and written communication skills
 Able to follow instructions as directed by members of Tax Team
 Takes appropriate actions without being asked
 Seeks advice of appropriate superiors regarding issues, problems related to compliance
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidateÂs qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
California Range: $96,000 - $125,000
Colorado Range: $80,000 - $100,000
Illinois Range: $90,000 - $108,000
Maryland Range: $95,000 - $110,000
Minnesota Range: $80,000 - $95,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $100,000 - $120,000
Washington Range: $83,000 - $115,000
Washington DC Range: $100,000 - $115,000
