Dental Insurance Biller and Verification Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Insurance Biller and Verification Specialist with experience in Open Dental. The ideal candidate will handle insurance billing, verification, and claim management with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of CDT codes, dental insurance policies, and proficiency in using Open Dental software to manage patient records and claims.
Key Responsibilities
1. Insurance Billing and Claims Management
 Utilize Open Dental software to prepare, submit, and monitor dental insurance claims.
 Ensure timely follow-up on unpaid or denied claims, including resubmissions and appeals.
 Accurately post insurance payments, write-offs, and adjustments to patient accounts.
 Generate monthly reports on claim status and accounts receivable.
2. Insurance Verification
 Verify patient insurance coverage, including eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and frequency limitations.
 Update Open Dental records with verified insurance details and benefit breakdowns.
 Communicate insurance changes or restrictions to patients and team members.
3. Patient Account Management
 Educate patients on their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities.
 Prepare and distribute patient statements and manage payment plans in Open Dental.
 Address patient inquiries regarding claims, balances, and payment processes.
4. Compliance and Reporting
 Ensure all claims are coded correctly using CDT codes and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
 Maintain accurate documentation of insurance verification, claims, and payments.
 Provide regular updates to the team on claim statuses and insurance policy changes.
5. Collaboration and Training
 Work closely with the front office team to streamline insurance-related processes.
 Assist in training team members on Open Dental software and insurance protocols.
Qualifications
 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in dental insurance billing and verification, with experience using Open Dental software.
 Knowledge: Strong understanding of CDT codes, dental insurance plans, and claim processes.
 Skills:
 Proficient in Open Dental software.
 Excellent communication and organizational skills.
 Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with high attention to detail.
 Problem-solving skills to resolve claim issues effectively.
 Compliance: Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
