About the position

The Property Accountant will oversee the full monthly accounting cycle for a select portfolio of properties within a dynamic and growing family-owned real estate business. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in real estate, who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
• Manage high-volume Accounts Payable and ensure timely payments of invoices, including utilities.

• Input General Ledger and expense accrual journal entries into RealPage.
,
• Process weekly manual check payments for site renovation projects.
,
• Reconcile credit card statements for site expenses.
,
• Provide copies of invoices, payments, and financial statements monthly.
,
• Assist with annual site budgets and forecasts.
,
• Perform quarterly Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
,
• Conduct bank reconciliations and manage check registers for all accounts.
,
• Process security deposit refunds and handle NSF checks, stop payments, and reissued checks.
,
• Perform monthly vendor aging analysis.
,
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flows.
,
• Analyze and explain current and year-to-date revenue and expense variances.
,
• Generate monthly billing comparison reports and utility expense reconciliation for assigned properties.
,
• Support the year-end close process by preparing lead schedules, supporting schedules, and audit binder reports.
,
• Collect and distribute mail within the Corporate office.
,
• Complete other duties as needed.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
,
• 3-5 years in Real Estate accounting or related Accounting experience.
,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with RealPage, OneSite, or similar property management software.
,
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial analysis, especially within residential properties.
,
• Skilled in bank reconciliation and financial statement analysis, with a capacity to manage multiple tasks, solve diverse issues, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
