VP/SVP of Mortgage Underwriting - Non QM and Investor Loans
Posted 2025-04-06MTG Services has been retained to locate a VP or SVP of Underwriting with 15+ years of experience. We are only interviewing candidates with exceptional experience in the following:
 Fix and Flip Loans
 Ground Up Construction
 Rehab/Rental
 Bridge Loans
If you do not have extensive experience in the above, you would not qualify for this position. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in the non-traditional mortgage space and will play a key role in expanding our client's offerings.
Key responsibilities include:
 Lead the underwriting department, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and operational oversight focused on optimizing processes, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining the highest standard of quality and compliance
 Oversee the underwriting process for bridge loans, construction loans, fix and flip loans, and rehab loans by ensuring each loan application is reviewed, assessed, and decisioned adhering to company policies and industry best practices
 Establish and maintain effective and robust risk management practices
 Recruit, train, and develop highly skilled underwriters and provide continuous professional development to staff
 Work closely with sales, operations, and risk management to ensure seamless communication and coordination throughout the loan origination and underwriting process
 Regularly review and assess portfolio performance, identifying trends and making recommendations to improve underwriting practices
 Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and third-party vendors
To qualify, you must have:
 15 years of underwriting experience of which five (5) years must be in non-traditional mortgage loan types
 Five (5) years of underwriting leadership experience
 Deep knowledge of underwriting principles and guidelines for specialized mortgage products
 Exceptional leadership, technical, and analytical skills
Our client prefers this role to be in-office, but remote candidates are also encouraged to apply. A relocation allowance will be provided to the right candidate.
