Role Overview
The Senior Accountant is part of the controllership team and is responsible for recording accurate and timely entries into the general ledger system. Responsible for supporting accounting operations, production of periodic financial reports, and maintenance of accounting records.
Scope of Work
Outcomes/results are defined in collaboration with senior management and results are assessed from a relatively long-term perspective.
Process Management
 Key player in monthly close process- responsible for general ledger entries
 Prepare and review reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts and material P&L accounts
 Ensure all expense recognition policies reflect GAAP/continual assessment
 Ensure expenses and Balance Sheet related entries are recorded in its entirety and reconciled
 Record general ledger activity (expenses, payroll, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets/depreciation, etc.)
 Support data collection for monthly financial review meeting with CFO, CEO, and leadership team
 Perform and review reconciliations around banking, balance sheet accounts, and major P&L accounts
 Support annual external financial statement audit
 Support the management of income tax related compliance
 Support state and local tax related preparations (including 3rd party management) and payments
 Support the budget process
 Support the creation of internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for financial management of organization
Process Improvements
 Support efforts to decrease number of days to close (goal tbd)
 Support the implementation of systems and processes to speed up processing time while maintaining accuracy and integrity of data
 Support the implement segregation of duties when reviewing general ledger activity
 Support accounting system implementations and integrations
 Help prepare and maintain SOPs/Policies for every major accounting process
 Key player in cross functional training among general ledger accountants
 Support the implementation of accounting flowcharts for major general ledger processes around Balance Sheets and P&L accounts
Mergers and Acquisitions
 Support management team with system, team, and process integration related to acquisitions
 Supports OBS and Valuation work
 Provide support where needed around acquisitions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Applies advanced experience and knowledge to accomplish more advanced processes and business problems. Has upper-level skills and abilities, and beginning to perform more varied and complex problems, processes, analytics.
 Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field., 3+ years of relevant experience- CPA candidate preferred
 Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
 Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
 Private Equity backed company experience a plus
 Experience on efficient processes and the use of technology
 Solid understanding of GAAP and technical accounting
 Good analytical skills, ability to perform financial and broad quantitative analyses; understanding of operations
 Experience in developing strong process around month end close
 Clear written and spoken communication skills with the ability to interact with all functions of a company
 Demonstrated success of working cross-functionally as well as independently
