The Office of K-12 Outreach at Michigan State University is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fiscal Officer / Accountant II to support the financial operations of our dynamic service office. This part-time position (65%) is crucial for managing the financial aspects of our programs, which include creating and overseeing annual budgets, as well as regularly monitoring financial performance on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely financial updates and projection reports to the Director and Director of Programs for K-12 Outreach, the Dean's office, and relevant funding agencies. In this role, the accountant will approve all financial e-documents and manage expenditures through various means such as PCards, purchase orders, and service contracts. Ensuring compliance with grant guidelines and project scopes is a key responsibility, as is assisting in the development of financial policies, accounting controls, and procedures for travel and out-of-pocket reimbursements. This position requires a strong understanding of financial regulations and the ability to support general office operations effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in accounting principles and practices, with a focus on grant management and compliance. Responsibilities
 Create and manage annual budgets for K-12 Outreach programs.

 Monitor financial performance on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual basis.

 Provide financial updates and projection reports to the Director and Director of Programs for K-12 Outreach, the Dean's office, and relevant funding agencies.

Requirements
 Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent knowledge.

 Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in supervision and accounting procedures.

 Experience in developing accounting controls, policies, and procedures.

 Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) may be required.
Nice-to-haves
 Experience working with grant and foundation funding in an academic setting.

 Prior experience routing e-documents through MSU's account system, Kuali.

 Deep knowledge of MSU's Office of Sponsored Programs and Contract and Grant Administration.
