We are seeking an experienced Controller to review current financial reporting and accounting processes, optimize the financial systems and oversee the financial operations of our growing investment firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting and finance, with expertise in fund management, investor reporting, and compliance. A CPA is highly preferred but not required. However, real estate experience is a must—we are looking for someone who understands the nuances of investment structures, cash flow management, and real estate financial reporting. This job requires someone who thrives in a high-accountability, turnaround situation and can clean up and implement new processes—not just maintain the status quo.

What You’ll DoFinancial Oversight & Reporting
• Manage and oversee all financial operations of the company, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and real estate investment industry standards.
• Develop and maintain financial models for real estate assets, investment funds, and operational forecasting.
• Ensure timely and accurate investor reporting, including distribution calculations and fund performance tracking.

Real Estate & Investment Fund Accounting
• Oversee accounting for multiple real estate investment entities, including funds, syndications, and joint ventures.
• Manage capital accounts, investor contributions, and distributions.
• Track property and portfolio-level performance, including NOI, cash flow projections, and asset valuation.
• Ensure compliance with SEC, tax, and financial regulations related to investment entities.
• Work closely with third-party auditors, tax professionals, and fund administrators.

Cash Flow & Financial Strategy
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring timely payments, distributions, and reinvestment strategies.
• Identify opportunities for financial efficiencies and risk mitigation.
• Assist in structuring new investment vehicles, including funds, syndications, and alternative financing strategies.
• Work directly with leadership to support strategic growth initiatives.

What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years of experience in a Controller, Finance Director, or Senior Accounting role within a real estate investment firm, private equity, or fund management.
• Deep knowledge of real estate accounting, asset management, financials, and fund structures.
• CPA preferred but not required (strong experience in real estate finance is more important).
• Expertise in financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and investment accounting.
• Experience managing investor capital accounts, distributions, and reporting.
• Strong financial modeling and forecasting skills.
• This is NOT a role for someone who prefers the status quo.
• A problem-solver who can lead the transformation of financial processes, identify efficiencies, and drive improvements is a must.
• Knowledge of tax implications for real estate investments and investor structures.
• Proficiency in accounting software, fund accounting platforms, and financial dashboards.
• Strategic thinker who can improve processes and financial efficiencies.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
