The Data Entry Cashier position at Monroe Community College is a front-line student service role that requires extensive interaction with students, parents, and sponsors through in-person, telephone, and email communications. The primary responsibility of this position is to interpret and explain complex student accounts, policies, and requirements related to tuition costs and bill payments. The role demands a high level of customer service, ensuring that all inquiries are handled efficiently and effectively. In this position, the Data Entry Cashier will maintain individual student accounts by posting payments, charges, adjustments, and disbursements. The role also involves preparing daily bank deposits and maintaining and reconciling a petty cash fund. The Data Entry Cashier will be responsible for keeping accurate PC-based logs of deposit information and tracking student accounts. Additionally, the position requires the creation and maintenance of Excel spreadsheets that contain assorted student account data, which are essential for tracking and analyzing accounts receivable. The Data Entry Cashier must ensure that the cash drawer, safe, and confidential records are maintained securely. The role may also involve performing various other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department. Responsibilities
 Provide a high level of customer service to students, parents, and sponsors.

 Maintain individual student accounts by posting payments, charges, adjustments, and disbursements.

 Prepare daily bank deposits and maintain a petty cash fund.

 Maintain and reconcile petty cash fund accurately.

 Keep PC-based logs of deposit information and track student accounts.

 Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets for tracking and analyzing accounts receivable.

 Maintain cash drawer, safe, and confidential records securely.

 Perform various other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
 High school diploma or GED required.
,
 Two years of paid full-time or part-time equivalent clerical experience involving bookkeeping, record keeping, or cashiering, with one year involving computer or data entry equipment.

 Successful completion of a college-level course in keyboarding, computer applications, or similar coursework plus two years of relevant clerical experience.

 Must hold the civil service title of Data Entry Cashier or be on the current eligible list for provisional appointment.

 Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or ability to meet transportation needs.
Nice-to-haves
 Bilingual in Spanish, able to read, write, and speak proficiently in Spanish or other languages.
