Royalty Accountant Assistant (Part-time)

The Royalty Accountant Assistant is an entry-level, part-time, temporary role designed to provide hands-on experience in royalty accounting within the finance department. This role will work approximately 20 hours/week. This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently pursuing or who has recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and has a passion for the entertainment business.
This role will support the Royalty Accounting team with data entry, payment reconciliation, financial reporting, and database maintenance. This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop technical accounting skills, gain exposure to intellectual property (IP) licensing agreements, and understand the financial aspects of royalties in the entertainment, publishing, and technology industries.
What you'll do
 Accurately input royalty-related financial data into accounting systems.
 Maintain organized and up-to-date records of royalty agreements, payments, and reports.
 Assist in reconciling royalty statements and payments against contractual obligations.
 Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
 Support in calculating royalties based on licensing agreements.
 Assist in generating financial reports related to royalty distributions.
 Work with large datasets to analyze trends in royalty earnings.
 Ensure databases are current and accurate, reflecting all royalty transactions.
 Assist in data clean-up projects and system optimizations.
 Help prepare supporting documents for internal and external audits.
 Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies regarding royalty accounting.
 Assist in identifying ways to streamline royalty accounting processes.
 Collaborate with finance, legal, and licensing teams to resolve issues related to royalty payments and contracts.
What you bring to the table
 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies in royalty calculations.
 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and familiarity with financial software.
 Ability to work with large datasets and ensure data accuracy.
 Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data entry and reconciliations.
 Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
 Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP/IFRS standards.
 Knowledge of royalty accounting, intellectual property rights, or licensing agreements is a plus.
 Passion for the entertainment industry.
 Experience with royalty accounting software or ERP systems a plus
 Familiarity with contracts and licensing agreements a plus
 Previous internship or coursework in entertainment accounting or finance a plus.

 Plex hires new team members in countries around the world.
 As such, Plex does not sponsor employment visas.
 All of our roles are remote, however some roles may carry specific location-based eligibility requirements. Our hiring team can help answer any questions about location after starting the recruiting process.
 Also, please note, though we largely work asynchronously, as it relates to meetings, those generally occur between UTC 1600 to UTC 1900

Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US and Global geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $20/hour in our lowest geographic market up to $30/hour in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, seniority, local currency and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
