As a Physical Therapist Assistant, operating in the outpatient services area, you will provide direct patient care to patients of all ages, birth through geriatric, and documentation of that care as outlined in the policy and procedure guidelines. You will carry out other patient care and operational duties for the Rehab Services Department, as indicated. Our physical therapy services are also provided at outreach sites in communities around the area in which you will play an active role in providing care.

Job Description

Essential Functions:
• Exemplifies appropriate critical thinking and evaluation in dispensing care. Executes all treatment processes adhering to accepted national, institutional, and evidence-driven standards. Delivers intervention that fulfils or exceeds departmental performance metrics.
• Ensuring timely and accurate documentation to maintain compliance with department standards regarding medical necessity.
• - Meets departmental productivity standards by demonstrating appropriate time management techniques.
• Shows initiative in personal professional growth. Completes all education necessary as per Monument Health's requirements and for licensure/certification in a timely manner. Actively promotes the profession both internally at Monument Health and externally to the community.
• Provides information and involves patients, families, and caregivers in treatment decisions, goal definition, and discharge preparation as needed.
• - Adheres to the designated PT care plan and maintains communication with the primary PT concerning any necessary changes or issues that arise.
• Fulfills all regulatory obligations regarding insurance, accreditation, and national and state regulatory entities.
• Other duties as determined by the supervisor.

Certification - Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - South Dakota Board of Physical Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
