THE ROLE:

Volunteer Coordinator (40%)

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you'll be the driving force behind our volunteer efforts, ensuring that our programs are supported by a vibrant community of helpers. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Championing our mission by recruiting, screening, and onboarding volunteers, including Female STEM Role Models, Volunteer Teaching Assistants, STEM Kitting Volunteers, and STEM Event Volunteers.
  • Crafting a monthly volunteer newsletter to keep volunteers engaged and informed.
  • Nurturing a sense of community on our volunteer platform, VolunteerLocal, and coordinating volunteer experiences with staff.
  • Attending events to share our vision and enlist passionate volunteers.
Teaching Assistant (50%)

In the role of Teaching Assistant, you'll be the backbone of our classroom experiences, collaborating with Head Teachers to deliver inspiring STEM lessons. Your tasks will encompass:
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and ensuring smooth communication with the team.
  • Mastering the facilitator guide for each project, aligning with the Head Teacher to provide effective classroom support.
  • Leading Social Emotional Learning components during lessons.
  • Building meaningful relationships with students, focusing on their personal growth and strengths.
  • Cultivating the scientist mindset among young learners in alignment with SAfG’s mission.
Additional Support (10%)
  • Providing administrative assistance when needed, contributing to organizational events and planning.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues to fulfill assigned tasks and drive success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Overall: A dedication to uplifting girls in STEM and a passion for nonprofit missions. Enthusiasm for working as a team member, Strong analytical skills and creativity, Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment, Ability to prioritize among competing pressing issues, Ability to manage expectations and meet deadlines in a timely and effective manner, Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Volunteer Coordinator: 2+ years of professional experience, excellent communication, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, comfortable and successful networking with industry partners, strong problem solving skills.
  • Teaching Assistant: Experience working with children, the ability to take initiative, and a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
COMPENSATION:

Salary: $23 - $26 per hour (dependent on experience)

COMMITMENT:
  • Full-Time: (40 hrs/week)
  • Core work hours: M-F 9:00 - 5:30
  • In-Person Role: 3 days in the office and 5 days after school hours in the classroom
  • Remote Role: 2 days working remotely in the morning
