Location: Hollywood Elementary School, Stevensville, MI 49127
Qualifications:  Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate and Special Education Certification- or willingness to obtain.  Meet requirements to be Highly Qualified under NCLB/IDEA  TCI Training (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) preferred- or willingness to obtain  Elementary teaching experience preferred  Demonstrated competencies providing intervention in the areas of math and reading  Demonstrated competencies in areas of interpersonal relationships, communication, and organization  Demonstrated competencies in areas of collecting, analyzing, progress monitoring, and reporting student data and growth  Must have a valid driverÂs license and reliable transportation
Professional Duties and Responsibilities:  Individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of Special Education students  Manage a safe, comfortable learning environment  Prepare for and actively lead/participate in the IEP/IFSP process  Provide appropriate physical intervention to ensure the safety and provision of personal care to the students  In-depth experience and implementation of interventions and strategies in the areas of reading and math for struggling learners to improve student learning  Effectively diagnose student learning processes and difficulties while providing evaluative feedback to teachers, students, and parents, including prescribed ways to maintain progress and overcome difficulties  Demonstrate consistent, effective management of student behavior  Train and direct paraprofessionals and other classroom assistants  Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel, and community representatives  Inform supervisor and parents of student's progress  Inform the supervisor of program concerns  Maintain accurate and timely records  Coordinate and conduct effective parent conferences  Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth  Comply with school district policies and procedures  Plan accommodations for and give statewide and district assessments  Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffing, and other required district and building activities  Comply with Medicaid billing procedures  As needed, the ability to lift to 50 pounds.  Understand and be aware of the medical needs of students and follow medical protocol under the district policies  Maintain confidentiality  Follow established policies/procedures (e.g. medical concerns, safety, student rights, etc.)  Attend and pass TCI Training (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention)  Regular and predictable attendance  All other duties as assigned
