Virtual Special Education Intake Coordinator

ACCEL Schools is seeking highly-qualified Virtual Special Education Intake Coordinators our upcoming 2024-2025 school year! ACCEL Schools is a K-12 public charter school management organization (CMO) serving students across the United States in brick-and-mortar, virtual, and hybrid school settings. In collaboration with the Special Education Director, Special Education Manager, and registrars, the Special Education Intake Coordinator supports the special education department through purposeful decision making of transferring special education documents following all state and federal guidelines. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and assisting in seeking documentation for all new and returning Students with Disabilities. Makes and implements student centered decisions in accordance with all state laws and regulations.

 Be able to work autonomously and maintain a high level of professionalism, organization, and confidentiality
 Review all incoming Special Education documents for compliance with Department of Education Office of Exceptional Children's standards and confidentiality make decisions on whether or not documents are deemed compliant or noncompliant in order to adopt
 Obtain general knowledge of EMIS reporting requirements
 Maintain communication with School Psychologist, Manager, and IEP Case Managers if incoming documents are found to be noncompliant or expired and communicate next steps
 Work closely and communicate with the General Records department and Special Education Registrar to retrieve the most recent IEP, ETR, and/or most recent educational evaluation from transferring districts
 Inform IEP Case Manager when all necessary documents are received and inform of next steps
 Inform Manager and/or Coordinator of unique circumstances regarding Least Restrictive Environment and Test Types based on previous records and ODDEX
 Work closely with Special Education Administrative Assistant and Special Education Registrar to maintain detailed documentation of all incoming records needing reviewed and completed
 Communicate with the Special Education Director and/or Manager if students are confirmed to receive services or who have been exited in accordance with Database Exchange System (ODDEX) and with appropriate documentation
 Communicate with Special Education Manager and Special Education Coordinators if students are to receive Related Services according to documents
 Be willing and able to communicate with transferring districts to maintain ease of communication in exchange of documents
 Periodically review existing documents for compliance and participate in Internal Monitoring procedures
 Participate in additional duties such as providing documentation as requested from Social Security Administration system
 Perform all other job duties as assigned
About you
 Current Ohio Special Education Teacher or Administrator Certification Required
 Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Master's Degree Preferred
 Minimum 3 years of experience providing special education services in an online model
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products
 Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality
 Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
 Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations
 Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated
 Demonstrates a mature attitude and insight into matters affecting department, self and / or company welfare
 Demonstrated leadership and management ability
 Excellent written and oral communication skills
 Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistently
 Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team members
 Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
 Understanding and ability to manage confidential information
 Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
