About the position

The Accounting Manager at Strategic Management Services is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining strong financial controls. This part-time role requires expertise in accounting principles, financial analysis, and process optimization to support the company's compliance solutions in the health care industry.

Responsibilities
• Lead Accounting Operations by monitoring cash flow and maintaining daily cash flow statements.

• Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and payments.

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
,
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
,
• Oversee the bi-weekly payroll process and may occasionally carry it out.
,
• Develop and implement accounting controls and guidelines for the Accounting Department.
,
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy.
,
• Develop and maintain the Firm's annual budget, incorporating various departmental budgets.
,
• Analyze and report on financial data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
,
• Prepare annual business activity reports highlighting financial performance.
,
• Coordinate with external accountants for corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with regulations.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

• Minimum 7 years of professional accounting experience, including 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
,
• Proven experience in managing cash flow in a small business environment.
,
• Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
,
• Working proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint and Paylocity.
,
• High level of accuracy in reviewing contracts, invoices, and transactions.

• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with other departments and partners.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, especially during payroll processing and year-end closing.

• Professional writing proficiency in English and strong verbal communication skills.
