Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled and dedicated Controller to join our dynamic team in Burlington, VT. This full-time position offers a hybrid work arrangement, enabling you to seamlessly balance your professional and personal life while making a significant impact in the nonprofit sector. As a Controller, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the financial operations of multiple nonprofit clients, contributing to their missions through your expertise in accounting and finance.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the preparation and presentation of financial reports to management and boards, facilitating informed decision-making.
• Identify and implement enhancements to accounting practices, internal controls, and compliance measures to uphold industry best standards.
• Manage critical transactional processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end closure.
• Conduct comprehensive financial analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and data visualization to support strategic initiatives.
• Oversee grant management, fund allocations, and reporting to funding sources to ensure transparency and compliance.
• Prepare for and oversee annual audits, ensuring all financial obligations are met.
• Educate clients and team members on financial best practices and operational efficiencies to promote financial literacy and sustainability.

Required Skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with various general ledger systems, particularly QuickBooks.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities, capable of working independently while providing prompt and effective support.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are an advantage but not mandatory.

Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience is essential.
• Previous experience in nonprofit accounting or consulting is preferred but not mandatory.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a hybrid or remote work environment while managing multiple client relationships.

Compensation And Benefits
• Starting annual base salary: (90,000 - )120,000 (based on a 35-hour work week).
